Alliance Bank's main revenue comes from commercial banking and generates a small amount of revenue from transaction banking and corporate banking. Unlike Hong Leong Bank and UOB, Alliance Bank has no investment banking division and does not participate in any deal flows/mergers and acquisitions. Let me ask you, if Bank Negara keeps raising interest rates, you think these small companies surviving on cheap credit can survive? Consumer sentiment dipped to all time low, small companies will suffer. However, the only good thing is that Alliance Bank will make more profits off SME clients due to higher interest rate. But it works until it doesn't when SME stop borrowing money.
