Working Experience
He completed his degree in law in 1990 and thereafter was called to the English Bar in 1991 (Barrister, Middle Temple). He then spent a year in London, lecturing the Bar Course in a private college. After returning to Malaysia in 1992, he underwent his pupilage at Messrs Rashid & Lee (now Messrs Sharizat Rashid & Lee) and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2001. He began his practice in Messrs Rashid & Lee where he assisted principally Tan Sri Zaki Tun Azmi. He was also junior counsel to Tan Sri Zaki Tun Azmi in several landmark cases in the Supreme Court in the area of Constitutional Law. He moved on to the firm of Messrs Skrine & Co. (now Messrs Skrine) where he was assistant to principally Mr. Tommy Thomas, in accomplished barrister in the area of corporate Litigation. He was junior counsel to Mr. Tommy Thomas in numerous cases with an emphasis on corporate litigation matters. He also handled numerous cases on his own in a varied area in civil litigation, including conducting hearings and trials in the High Court and apprearing in the Appellate Courts. He has in his 16 years of practice handled numerous litigation cases in the fields of Company and Corporate, Administrative/Constitutional, Contract, Insurance, Insolvency, Banking and Land/Property laws. He handled on his own a landmark case on Contract, Banking and Land/Property laws in the High Court of Malaya and the Court of Appeal. The case had a profound impact on the laws and practice in the banking and property industries in the country. He has extensive experience in conducting appeals in the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court. He also regularly appears as counsol for other solicitor firms in the country in the conduct of litigation matters in the High Court and the Appellate Courts.
