Dr Lim Cheok Peng graduated from the University of Singapore with an MBBS in 1972 and obtained a Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) from the same university in 1976. In 1977, he became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom and later became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Working Experience
Dr Lim has extensive experience both as a medical practitioner and in managing hospital businesses. He was one of a group of doctors who started the Kuantan Specialist Centre, a 100-bed private hospital in Kuantan, Pahang. In 1985, Dr Lim practised internal medicine and cardiology at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and then went on to become a consultant to Parkway Holdings Limited ("PHL") in 1987. From 1990 to 2000, Dr Lim was the Managing Director ("MD") of Gleneagles International and Head of Healthcare Division of PHL. In 2000, he took on the role of MD of PHL and was subsequently appointed as its Executive Vice Chairman in 2010. Dr Lim has been instrumental in expanding PHL’s healthcare business in Singapore and abroad. In 2011, he joined IHH as Executive Director to lead its management team and was re-designated to the post of MD in March 2012.
