Working Experience
Datuk Ali was appointed as Chairman of the Securities Commission of Malaysia on 1 March 1999 and served in that capacity until 29 February 2004. He also served on a number of national-level committees including the Foreign Investment Committee, the Oversight Committee of National Asset Management Company (Danaharta). Prior to his appointment to the Securities Commission, he was the Executive Chairman and Partner of Ernst & Young and its related firms. He was also the former President of the MICPA, chairing both its Executive Committee and Insolvency Practices Committee and co-chairing the Company Law Forum. He was appointed an Adjunct Professor in the Accounting and Business Faculty. Datuk Ali was also previously the Chairman of Milux Corporation Berhad, Microlink Solutions Berhad and the Financial Reporting Foundation.
