Mr Sun, JianYun ("Mr Sun") holds a Master of Science (Honours) Degree in Economics from Peking University, China in 2009, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics from Peking University, China in 2007.
Working Experience
Mr Sun started his career with McKinsey & Company in its corporate finance practice where he advised a leading Chinese petrochemical SOE on its 5 year strategic planning and entire portfolio restructuring. He also advised private equity firms on its commercial due diligence efforts and a leading automobile manufacturer in China on its cost optimization efforts. From McKinsey & Company, Mr Sun chose to relocate to Hong Kong and started his career in investment banking, firstly with Macquarie Capital, a leading Australian investment bank and then with Bank of China International, the investment bank subsidiary of Bank of China. As an investment banker, Mr. Sun practiced both Hong Kong capital markets for transactions like IPOs, placings and also cross-border M&As. Mr Sun's focus has been in metals and mining industry and oil and gas industry. Departing Bank of China International as an Associate Director, Mr Sun joined Mercuria Energy Group in 2014 as its Asia Investment Officer, looking after Mercuria's investments in Asia in general and also involved in structured trade deals. Mr Sun is currently sitting on the board of Henry Bath & Son (China), the parent company of which is Henry Bath & Son, the 4th largest LME warehouse operator globally.
